Dr. Serra Tinic as Keynote Speaker

The University of North Dakota Institute for Borderlands Studies is pleased to announce that the keynote speaker for the conference is Dr. Serra Tinic.

Dr. Serra Tinic is an associate professor of media studies in the Department of Sociology at the University of Alberta, Canada. Her larger research program focuses on the transnational dimensions of television drama production and distribution. She is the author of
On Location: Canada’s Television Industry in a Global Market (University of Toronto Press, 2005). Her work on media globalization has appeared in scholarly anthologies as well as journals including Television & New Media, Journal of Communication, Social Epistemology and The Velvet Light Trap. Dr. Tinic is currently working on two book projects: Trading in Culture: The Global Cultural Economy of Television and The Global Television Industry (with co-authors Dr. Timothy Havens, University of Iowa and Dr. Michael Curtin, UC-Santa Barbara).
